How to charge 18650 12V 100Ah battery

You need a charger specifically for Li-Ion batteries; you cannot use a charger for lead-acid batteries. The constant current/constant voltage (CC/CV) charging mode initially supplies power at a constant current until the battery reaches its maximum voltage of 14.8V. It then switches to constant voltage mode, gradually reducing the current as the battery fills up.

Set a charge current of around 0.2C. For a 100Ah battery, it is common to use a charger with a current rating of 20A to 30A, depending on the desired charge time and battery/BMS specifications.

Connect the charger: Connect the positive (+) terminal of the charger to the positive (+) terminal of the battery pack, and the negative (-) terminal of the charger to the negative (-) terminal of the battery pack. Make sure the polarity is correct.

During charging, monitor the temperature change on the battery surface and note any unusual noises (hissing, popping, etc.).

Once the battery is fully charged, turn off the charger and disconnect it from the battery pack.

12V 100Ah Battery Run Time

Before we estimate the runtime of a 12V 100Ah battery, you need to know the total power consumption of the devices being powered. Generally, the power consumption is marked on electrical products, and you need to add up the power consumption of all the devices that may be powered.

The formula for calculating the running time is: running time (hours) = (battery voltage (V) x battery capacity (Ah)) / power consumption (W), that is, 1200Wh / your power consumption.

The above are theoretical run times, you need to consider the depth of discharge of the battery, its age, and the efficiency of the inverter (if any).

Assume you want to use a 12V 100Ah battery to power a device that consumes 100W, and you have an inverter with 90% efficiency. Run time (80% DoD): (12V x 100Ah x 0.8) / 111.1W = 960 / 111.1 = 8.64 hours
