How to select 36v forklift battery charger
Voltage and Current Matching
- Voltage Matching: Ensure the charger’s voltage matches the battery’s voltage, which is 3.65*12=43.8V.
- Current Matching: The charger’s current output should be within 20% of the battery’s amp-hour (Ah) rating. This means if your battery is 200Ah, the charger’s output current should be between 30~50A.
Charger Type
- Smart Charger: Smart chargers use microprocessor technology to automatically adjust charging in different stages, control charging time, and automatically shut off to prevent overcharging.
- High-Efficiency Charger: High-efficiency chargers can charge faster and lose less energy during the conversion process, making them suitable for forklifts that need frequent use.
Safety and Compliance
- OSHA Requirements: Ensure the charging station complies with OSHA safety requirements, including fire protection, proper ventilation, acid handling facilities, etc.
- PPE: During charging, operators should wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety goggles, rubber gloves, and safety shoes.
